How To Paint A Sea Turtle

10 Amazing (and Easy!) Tutorials

Introduction

Sea turtles are my favorite sea creatures. They’re small, cute, and extremely adorable. I’ve always had a fascination for sea turtles, so much that I went ahead and decided to recreate their cuteness on canvas. However, I wasn’t sure of how to paint a sea turtle. That’s why, I headed over to YouTube, and learnt how to paint them through the help of some amazing tutorials.

To paint sea turtles, you need to ensure two main elements. The turtle itself is the first element, where all your focus needs to be on. Next, you work on the environment. Decide on the background first, and then arrange the composition of your painting accordingly.

What we’ve got here is a simple painting of a sea turtle. As you can tell by looking at the painting, the coloring is quite rough. Although the artist has put in a fair amount of color blends into the mix, it’s not properly mixed, and the transition seems a bit off, which is why it looks rough. Nonetheless, this being a beginner’s level artwork is still quite admirable.

For this sea turtle painting, the artist went for a dark tone appeal, where around two-thirds of the artwork has a sort of dark overlay on it. You can still differentiate the light tones and transitions in the painting. The dark tone, however, gives the artwork a more vibrant look. It actually makes the lighter colors pop out. This is a technique you can play with in a lot of artworks.
