If you want to draw a cute dog, but don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place. I too have struggled with my dog drawings in the past, but eventually managed to get the hang of it. I managed to do so by handling the drawing in a stepwise manner. I broke the entire art piece into several steps, and approached it accordingly. And if you can follow this same approach, I think you’ll be able to finish the drawing with absolute ease.

To draw a dog, we’ll take a head to tail approach. We show the dog’s tongue sticking out from its mouth, and its ears folded, which will help with its cuteness. Once the drawing is done, we’ll add a sharp final touch to it before coloring the dog. And our drawing is done.

Start with the head

The head is drawn in the shape of a pear.

Add the ears

They are long but shown folded.

Draw the eyes

The eyes are oval in shape and have eyebrows over them.

Add the mouth and nose

The nose is small and the mouth is a bit wide.

Show the tongue

Draw the tongue sticking out of the mouth.

Start drawing the body

Draw the backside first.

Show the front body next

The dog’s body starts taking the shape of a small sausage.

Start adding the legs

The legs are a bit long and the paws are clearly visible.

Draw the other leg

This leg is drawn at the backside.

Time for the tail

The tail is drawn a bit short.

Final touches

Use a sharp pencil to redo the outline for some more sharpness.

Color it

You are done with the drawing, now you just need to color.
